Regal Caribbean's Sailor of the Oceans will be the main boat to touch base at the journey ship compartment — some time ago runway 13 — today at 8 p.m.
Prior to its conclusion in 1998, Kai Tak (the initially recorded flight from the site occurred in 1925) was viewed as a standout amongst the most troublesome air terminals on the planet for pilots to fly into and out of.
As it sat amidst Kowloon City, with a runway projecting into the ocean, arrival in Kai Tak was a hair-raising occasion notwithstanding for experienced pilots.
Cathay Pacific Aviation routes' general supervisor of operations and pilot Russell Davie has 36 years of flying background.
He recalls Kai Tak affectionately.
"As a pilot, it was absolutely one of a kind. It was the main significant air terminal on the planet that required a 45-degree turn underneath 500 feet to line up with the runway, truly flying between the tall structures, passing near the well known orange and white checkerboard as you made that last move in the direction of the runway," he
